Trekking and Biking

The coast along Le Marche is mostly quite flat and therefore cycling is easy.

There is a cycle path stretching from Cupra through Grottamare and on to San Benedetto. Bikes can be hired in San Benedetto and inquire at the tourist office for other places. Hotel La Perla in Cupra often rent bikes as well.

Happy Bike (www.happybike.it) claim to “provide for every need” and hire mountain bikes, racing bikes and others in northern Marche. They have a wide variety of detailed geographical maps and information abut the surrounding countryside. They also organise treks.

They say their guides have all attended courses held by the Federazione Ciclista Italiana and understand all weather and terrain conditions.

Golf

Conero has a popular golf club with two areas.

The first is with 18 championship holes (a par 72.5.969 mt long). The “Executive” path has 9 holes (a par 29 1.408 mt long) and is described as “ideal for the newbees and those who want to perfect a short game”. There is also a driving range for practice with a wide putting green.

For those wishing to learn there is a teacher certified by the Federazione Italiana Golf available. At the bottom of a valley they “a wide zone” with water obstacles, variations in height.

The Club House is tastefully built to integrate with the surroundings and people come here all year round. They also have a swimming pool and tennis courts.

This is just one of many places advertising beach volley along Via Litoranea and there are many volley pitches along the coast from Marcelli to the end of Porto Recanati

The www.inlemarche.com website also lists Falconara Beach as suitable for beginners who want to hire kit and “battle it out” by themselves . There are light winds and shallow protected waters.

Senigalia Beach, Portonovo is recommended as good for the more experienced windsurfer and sailor with “good” winds coming off shore . You can hire equipment here.
