We so enjoyed exploring Le Marche - such an unspoilt region - as well as eating well in several excellent restaurants, and although we didn't swim we went for long walks on the beach. The penthouse apartment, in which we stayed, was fabulously comfortable and the sea views from so many windows are exquisite.

Anthony Jones from Oxford, with wife and daughter - Aug 2007

We enjoyed Cupra and thought the lower terrace bedroom a really good idea for our daughter. We had great food especially at Beach Chalet Gabry, seafood pastas and Prosecco - bliss. We enjoyed 'passegiare' (going for walks) in Cupra, Grottamare and San Benedetto, loved Ascoli itself, great lunch of generous carpaccio on the square and some clothes shopping. Really liked the Castello café, grappa and ice-creams looking out over the moonlit sea.

Brilliant place! After two wettish days good beach weather and lots of white sands and places to eat to add to the pleasure. The taverna in Cupra Alta was lovely, but there are lots of other good places to eat as well.

Wonderful countryside to explore. A strange concert and the Villa Vinci with presentation of prizes to a violinist who had a solo spot - wonderful stuff! Very much hope to be back next year.

Mark King, his wife and two daughters - Summer 2007

We liked the (terrace) apartment very much. We ate at the Osteria delle Pescatore (see website food and drink) twice. Having one complete antipasti between two works well for starters. For pizza, pasta and seafood we went to the Adriatic restaurant along the seafront just past the tennis courts, going north.

We enjoyed inventive starters and desserts at Pepe Nero but found the main courses the weak point. Interesting wines. Best ice-creams according to our daughters at Easy on the sea-front

At the fish shop on Via Adriatica excellent fresh fish and dishes to heat up at home. The view from the top of the hill at nearby Ripatransone is spectacular. We visited the caves at Frassasi - very interesting but take a coat or jumper as it's cold inside.

We visited the waterfall/gorge - worthwhile but only for those who are okay with long and steep walking.

Why Le Marche?

We chose to buy in Le Marche because we found the small, charming town of Cupra with its long sandy beach, 16th century piazza, rolling hills behind and gorgeous medieval towns to visit close by, utterly enchanting. But there was more than simply this to finding the place, deciding to come here and learning about the region. More...
